Florist vs Supermarket: is there a difference?

A question we hear a lot is: "why are florist flowers more expensive than supermarket flowers?". The answer: you get what you pay for. Florists spend hours behind the scenes doing everything they can to make sure you get a top quality, long lasting arrangement.

Here's a just few things we do:

  • We hydrate flowers immediately after receiving. Sometimes this means a warm water bath (for the flowers, not for us haha) and sometimes this means a quick dip into hydrating solution.

  • We strip the flower stems and clean off any debris that may fall into the water.

  • We change our water buckets daily and replenish them with fresh water + flower food.

  • We scrub our buckets to remove any debris or bacteria.

  • We sanitise our workbenches multiple times a day.

I could go on forever about all the little details, but I'll save you the time. Let's just say we truly love flowers, and our passion is evident in every arrangement we create. Flowers are not just a means of making a living, but they are a source of inspiration, joy, and creativity for us. So I guess the real difference between a florist and a supermarket is that we really, really care.
