Valentine's Day is the single busiest day of the year for florists, and on the Sunshine Coast it comes with its own set of challenges. February is peak summer - hot, humid, and unpredictable with afternoon storms. That combination affects everything from which flowers hold up best to how deliveries need to be timed.
If you're planning to send Valentine's Day flowers to someone in Caloundra or anywhere across the Sunshine Coast, this guide covers what you actually need to know to get it right.
What Valentine's Day flowers are available on the Sunshine Coast
Most of the year, our bouquets are designed with seasonal flowers in our signature pink and purple palette - every arrangement is unique and varies week to week. Valentine's Day is the one time of year we step outside that range and offer dedicated red rose products alongside our signature designs.
For Valentine's Day 2026, we offered two rose options.
Dozen Roses in Deluxe Gift Box - $199. Twelve premium long-stem red roses presented in a gift box. This is the classic Valentine's gesture and our most popular Valentine's product. The gift box presentation makes it feel like an event when it arrives.
Red Rose Bouquet - $125. Seven red roses with baby's breath, hand-tied and wrapped. A beautiful option that gives you the traditional red roses without the full dozen price point.
Both products are only available for a limited window around Valentine's Day. Once they sell out, they're gone for the year.
Our signature bouquet range is also available over Valentine's Day for anyone who prefers something different from the traditional red rose look. The Signature Bouquet ($120) and the Luxe Bouquet ($180) both make a strong romantic impression and work well as Valentine's gifts if your partner isn't a red rose person.
When to order Valentine's Day flowers on the Sunshine Coast
Valentine's Day flowers sell out. This isn't a marketing line - it's a reality of how the flower supply chain works. Roses are sourced weeks in advance in set quantities, and once they're allocated, there's no restocking mid-week.
Here's a realistic ordering timeline if you want to be confident your order is secured.
Two weeks before (early February). This is the ideal window. You'll have full product availability and your preferred delivery date locked in. If you're sending to a workplace and need a specific delivery day, this is when to order.
One week before. Still fine for most orders, but popular products may start showing limited availability. If you have your eye on the gift box roses, don't wait much longer than this.
A few days before. You can still order, but your options may be narrower. Some products will have sold out by this point.
Valentine's Day itself. If we still have availability, you can order on the day, but this is a gamble. If the roses are gone, they're gone.
The short version: order as early as you can. You can always add a gift or personalised message closer to the date, but securing the flowers early takes the pressure off.
How the Sunshine Coast summer affects Valentine's Day flowers
February on the Sunshine Coast is hot. Daytime temperatures regularly sit in the low 30s, humidity is high, and afternoon storms can roll in quickly. This matters for flowers more than most people realise.
Heat speeds up how quickly flowers open. A bouquet that would last seven to ten days in winter might last five to seven in February. This is completely normal and not a quality issue - it's just how flowers respond to warmth. The upside is that buds open faster, so you get the full visual impact sooner.
Delivery timing matters more in summer. Flowers sitting on a doorstep in direct afternoon sun can deteriorate quickly. If the recipient won't be home during the day, it's worth adding delivery notes so the flowers can be left in a shaded spot. We deliver across Caloundra, Kings Beach, Dicky Beach, Golden Beach, Pelican Waters, Kawana and the wider Sunshine Coast, and our delivery team knows to look for shade and shelter.
Get them into water quickly. Once flowers arrive, trimming the stems and getting them into fresh, cool water as soon as possible makes a noticeable difference to how long they last, especially in the heat. We include flower food with every order, which helps keep the water clean and the flowers hydrated.
Making Valentine's Day flowers part of a bigger gift
Flowers on their own are always enough. But if you want to turn it into a complete gesture, pairing flowers with a gift from our gift range is an easy way to do it without needing to shop anywhere else.
Popular Valentine's Day pairings include a soy candle (the Champagne and Strawberries scent is a natural fit), chocolates or sweet treats, or a self-care hamper if your partner is someone who appreciates relaxation over romance. Everything ships together in the same delivery, so the recipient gets one beautifully presented gift rather than multiple separate packages.
Keeping your Valentine's Day flowers looking their best
A little care goes a long way, especially in the Sunshine Coast summer heat.
Trim the stems at an angle before placing them in a clean vase with fresh water. This opens up the water channels and helps the flowers drink properly.
Keep them cool. Place the vase away from direct sunlight, windows, and heat sources. Air conditioning actually helps flowers last longer in summer, so if you're running the aircon at home, your flowers will benefit.
Change the water every two days. In warmer weather, bacteria builds up in vase water faster than in winter. Fresh water with flower food keeps things clean and extends the life of the arrangement.
Remove wilting blooms as they go. This isn't just cosmetic - removing spent flowers stops them from releasing ethylene gas, which causes the remaining blooms to age faster.
